iPro was represented and briefly introduced by Mathy Vanbuel, ATiT Belgium, at the conference 'Bridging the gap between education and the workplace: equipping people with the right skills for today and tomorrow’s jobs' held on 24 June 2015 at the European Parliament in Brussels. This high level conference was hosted by Martina Dlabajova, MEP - European Parliament (Brussels). The distinguished panel chaired by Martina Dlabajova, MEP with amongst others Chiara Riondino, Unit skills and qualifications unit, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Simone Baldassari, unit SMEs and Entrepreneurship, DG GROW and Mrs Danuta Jazlowiecka, MEP discussed job creation across the EU and the skills gap that exists between the education system and the needs of business. As part of the EU's overall strategy - Europe 2020 - the Commission launched its 'new skills for new jobs' initiative to help the EU reach its employment target for 2020 of 75% of the working-age population (20-64 years) to be in work. The initiative sets out to: promote better anticipation of future skills needs, develop better matching between skills and labour market needs, bridge the gap between the worlds of education and work.
